The 240SS Ignition Project Car Comes to Life in New Episode - Motor Trend

The Ignition team achieved the fast part by swapping in a 6. 2-liter LS3 V-8 sourced from Chevrolet Performance, which makes 430 hp and 424 lb-ft of torque and had no issues fitting inside the 240SX’s cavernous engine bay. When choosing a new engine, the team considered many choices, but ultimately went with the LS3 crate engine for its reliability, power, and, most importantly, the fact that it’s emissions-legal. Finally, the episodes is capped off by a visit to Streets of Willow, where Randy Pobst gets behind the wheel and is able to put down an impressive lap time that’s quicker than many staff favorites including our long-term WRX STI and the BMW M235i.... The conclusion. “I might be a little biased because of the time I’ve spent working on it. maybe this is kind of what it feels like to be the father of a newborn. But this thing is the best thing I’ve driven,” says Lago. But then, it is a 2,800 pound car with about 430 HP. The 240SS accelerates from 0 to 60 in a scant 4. 1 seconds, and manages 1. 02 G of lateral acceleration.   "Car is great on gas! Power windows, power locks. Soft convertible top that does great in hard rain! Tires are pretty good too. I installed a stereo/cd player (plays music from your cell phone/Apple device/mp3 player & includes a USB hub). All four speakers work great!. Has brand new radiator, brand new starter & brand new thermostat! BUT it needs a new muffler & head gasket. I'm not gonna lie, the car is a dinosaur but it's NOT a lemon!! The guy who had the car before me didn't keep up with internal maintenance so I fixed it up as much as possible! Definitely needs a good paint job and two covers for the back speakers!!"
