So, being an avid golfer, when GMC invited me on an odyssey to drive the Canyon All Terrain, their mid-size truck, through the desert to play two sublime summer rounds of golf, there was only one thing to do: board a plane to Vegas, right away. Once inside the cabin of my truck, I was pleased to learn that the essential modern conveniences I am surrounded by in my own car hadn’t gone missing in the truck: it was packed with technology, including a rear vision camera, multiple USB ports... With my luggage and golf clubs secured in the spacious cargo bed, I decided to take the scenic route and head through the Valley of Fire State Park, making my way through hilly, mountainous areas. The Canyon’s 3. 6L V-6 engine provided effortless power to handle itself through this type of terrain. As I made my way leisurely through the park, I noticed the colors of the surrounding landscape becoming more saturated, and then I saw the first of what was to be countless immense, deeply colored sandstone cliffs. My meditative state was only enhanced by the Canyon’s comfortable and exceptionally quiet cabin, finished nicely with aluminum trim and contrast stitching. Source: pursuitist.com

2014 Kia Soul Exclaim Long-Term Verdict Review - Motor Trend

I wasn't the only one to take advantage of the Soul's spacious interior, as it was requested as a support vehicle for photography purposes on multiple occasions. Although it looks funky on the outside, the Soul is surprisingly refined inside with leather-wrapped elements and just enough shiny black and aluminum plastic trim to make it look nice, not cheap. The dash is covered in soft-touch material, and the black stitching on the perforated black leather is tight and nicely constructed. The interior survived the year unscathed except for minor scuffs left by snowboards on the back of the passenger seat and on the black shiny plastic trim on the right rear passenger's door panel. Even though its interior proved to be very much grown up, the Soul still stayed true to its funky roots with unique elements such as the tweeters mounted on top of the HVAC vents. Even though I don't have any little ones yet, I'd image the Soul would be a stylish alternative for small families. That's because over the past year, I watched my puppy grow from a little 8-pound thing to a 46-pound beast in the Soul, and strapping his doggie seatbelt into the back seat was always a breeze thanks to the easy entry and exit. He also enjoyed himself back there, as the seats had a good seatback-to-seat-cushion ratio, allowing him to sit upright in a comfortable position. Source: www.motortrend.com

The GMC Canyon is a better choice for wannabe-yuppie ranch hands. Think of the Canyon as a smaller Sierra, not just another small pickup. Projector beam headlamps and LED running lamps connect it to the GMC family. Up front, the scene is all big boy truck with a beefy leather-wrapped steering wheel, red-stitched dash coverings, red-lit gauges and canvas/vinyl seats that look like they came out of a Camaro. GMC's Intellilink infotainment system uses voice and touchscreen to control audio, navigation and apps like TuneIn global radio and Pandora. Automatic climate control and heated front seats add comfort. Rear seats are tighter than fronts, but two fit. Canyons come standard with a 200-horsepower four-cylinder engine, but we stepped up to the 305-horsepower 3. 6-liter V6. It was connected to a six-speed automatic transmission and electronic four-wheel-drive. That's partly due to tall gearing designed to enhance fuel economy, but on the interstate it requires attention to keep the truck at speed. Fuel economy is rated 17/24 mpg city/highway.
