GMC has announced a series of updates to the 2016 Sierra HD. Starting with the exterior, all models gain standard HID headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. The model also offers a remote locking tailgate and several new colors including Crimson Red Tintcoat, Cardinal Red, Deep Garnet Metallic and Mahogany Metallic. The 2016 Sierra HD also offers a new Active Steering Assist system as well as a newly optional Gooseneck/5th Wheel Trailering Prep Package. The latter will be available on Duramax-powered models beginning early next year and it includse a "frame-mounted hitch platform and tray that accommodates a gooseneck ball hitch or fifth-wheel hitch-mounting brackets. Bringing the Wife in on the Project 1957 GMC 100 Jimmy - Hot Rod Network

It started on a typical summer day in July 2013, in a conversation with Joe Witte's better half about a new classic project. After building two sweet classic muscle cars, she wasn't interested in another car, but wouldn't mind a truck. It wouldn't take him long to find it. Getting the green light on a project from your spouse is a sound choice to go on the hunt for a build. It was a patina'd rat-rod style 1957 GMC 100, originally owned by Brian Jenkins. Being a custom bike builder by trade, Joe started work on the Jimmy by adding a C-notch and Z'ing the frame, which was donated from a 1994 Chevy truck. The truck also donated the factory front and rear suspension, steering, and a 5. 7L TBI engine. He received divine inspiration at Christmas time with a bronze colored ornament and immediately knew the color. He mixed a custom blend of Sherman Williams satin and copper to create the single-stage Brazilian Bronze satin as the end result. During paint and body, Joe worked out the wiring gremlins that caused the engine to randomly shutdown by installing a new ECU and wiring harness. Source: www.hotrod.com

The two V-6s are mechanically quite dissimilar, with the 278-hp,... 21 ratio spread, the new six-speed autos supporting both the 2. 7-liter inline-four and 3. 5-liter V-6 offer greater driving flexibility than the four- (3. 94) and five-speed (4. 89) units of yesteryear. Though paired with shorter (numerically higher) axle ratios for 2016, the six-speed transmission’s added steps make shifting sound and feel less dramatic, yielding a more relaxed operating environment.
