More than two months after the partially decomposed body of Kenneth Michael Spice was found in a wooded area near Greenville, the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office has linked a Newnan, Ga. , suspect to evidence found June 15 at the crime scene,... He was first held on a marijuana possession charge and probation violation before he was charged with one count each of murder in Spice’s death, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and arson second degree. “As a result of following these leads, our lead investigator was able to develop a suspect in the case. A white 1996 Ford F-150 pickup driven by the victim was found in the area where Spice’s body was found. Investigators from the sheriff’s office conducted a search on July 31 at Slaton’s home with help from the Upson Regional Narcotics Task Force, the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office and agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Unidentified evidence linked to the crime scene was found at the home along with a small amount of marijuana. The GBI Crime Lab found a positive match of items collected from the search warrant with the crime scene in the 100 block of Primrose Circle. Borough police say Charles Harzer’s unoccupied red 1996 Ford F-150 pickup was located in the 900 block of Hampden Road Extended at about 8:30 am this morning. A tracking dog was called in to assist with the search for Harzer, but was unsuccessful.
