The base 2. 0-liter four-cylinder sDrive28i is offered with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. there are two 3. 0-liter twin-turbo sixes: the 300-hp sDrive35i and the 335-hp sDrive35is. The former is offered with a six-speed stick or seven-speed dual-clutch auto, while the sDrive35is is offered only with the automatic. First Drive Review – 2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i Any new engine is big news to us, but when a new powerplant comes along and replaces one of our favorite engines—BMW’s naturally aspirated inline-six, in this case—we pay extra-close attention. Instead, the Z4 sDrive28i and the 528i will have a new turbocharged 2. 0-liter four-cylinder implanted between their front fenders. BMW claims the turbocharged 2. 0-liter makes 240 hp at 6500 rpm and 260 lb-ft of torque at a low 1250 rpm. Compared with the naturally aspirated six of the 2011 Z4, the new engine comes up short by 15 horses but bests it by 40 lb-ft. Given that it has two fewer cylinders, it’s also shorter, and the majority of the engine’s mass sits behind the front-axle line. Boosted Engine, Elevated Aggression. The engine isn’t rough, but there is a slight coarseness from the engine and exhaust under stress. Whereas BMW’s other boosted engines keep their turbo whine to a minimum, as if they were embarrassed by it, step into the boost in the Z4, and the turbocharger whistles proudly. BMW velja za izdelovalca, ki ima na podro?ju športnih roadsterjev bogate izkušnje. Zgodba se je sicer za?ela pisati že pred ve? kot 70 leti z modelom 507, a navadnim smrtnikom so njihovi roadsterji postali zares dosegljivi šele z modelom Z1, ki mu je sledil Z3 in nato Z4. Medtem ko je bil prvi Z1 z izjemo pogrezajo?ih se vrat... Pravijo, da je šel v ovinek, zvijajo?e kot ka?a, in da je bil premajhen. Zastarelo zadnjo premo je nadomestilo tako imenovano multi-link obešenje, karoserija je postala opazno in prepri?ljivo bolj toga in lažja. Bavarci so se odlo?ili, da tak avto rezervne gume ne potrebuje, variabilno delovanje ventilov oziroma VANOS pa so dobili tudi motorji, ki se niso kitili s ?rko M. Kar se ti?e velikosti karoserije, sta prirastka v dolžino (7 cm) ter širino (9 cm)... A pri BMW-ju so vztrajali in sistem hitro dodelali do stopnje, ko mu ni bilo ?esa o?itati. All the usual BMW strengths are here: taut chassis, strong brakes, communicative steering, smartly executed interior, and willing in-line six-cylinder engine mated to a sure-shifting six-speed manual (a six-speed automatic also is offered). Sure, the 3. 0-liter six produces "only" 255 hp, but it's all you need for this 3108-pound two-seater. BMW says the Z4 coupe will reach 60 mph in only 5. 6 seconds and go on to a top speed of 155 mph. Our test vehicle had a base price of $40,400 but was loaded with options that brought the as-tested price to $47,850. The big-ticket items were a $2250 premium package with power seats and Xenon headlights. a $1300 sport package with 18-inch wheels and performance tires and a sport-tuned suspension.
