Dos mujeres resultaron lesionadas, una de ellas residente de Estados Unidos, luego de impactar el lujoso vehículo deportivo Corvette, modelo 2015, en el que viajaban, contra un taxi en la zona centro. El accidente se registró a las 02:30 horas de ayer en el cruce de las calles Venustiano Carranza y San Luis Potosí, informó el perito de Tránsito Local Alberto Valenzuela Félix. Según las autoridades, Aída García Gómez, de 32 años, residente de Roma, Texas, manejaba un Chevrolet Corvette, modelo 2015 de oriente a poniente por la calle Venustiano Carranza y la acompañaba una amiga con domicilio en la ciudad de Camargo. Al llegar a la calle San Luis Potosí, García Gómez impactó su costosa unidad contra un taxi Nissan Sentra, modelo 1996, el cual era conducido por Esteban Pérez Díaz, de 28 años, con domicilio en la Privada Vallarta de la colonia Hacienda Las... Zurik: Feds investigate huge mess at Tangipahoa Parish landfill - FOX 8 News WVUE-TV

A new FOX 8 investigation looks at the federal probe and why the state says poor record keeping by Tangipahoa Parish authorities helped a government contractor earn millions of dollars more than it deserved. Several Tangipahoa Parish council members appeared stunned when we showed them the documents we uncovered. “I've never seen that document," Parish Councilman Carlo Bruno told us last week. The documents show the parish could be on the hook for millions of dollars in fines. Tangipahoa Parish owns a landfill , located roughly between Amite City and Independence. “I've never seen those piles of tires," Bruno said. The Louisiana Waste Tire Program was instituted several years ago to remove waste tires from the solid waste stream generally going into landfills. DEQ pays companies to recycle tires, including those tires brought to the Tangipahoa Parish landfill, where workers use the old tires as filler material. It's perfectly safe and legal - as long as the parish stores the tires according to DEQ regulations and the agency approves the storage ahead of time.
