Driven: Jaguar XE Range - eNCA

JOHANNESBURG – The eagerly anticipated Jaguar XE was recently launched in South Africa, so I travelled to the glorious Western Cape to experience the range first-hand. For many years Jaguar have not had a C-segment player, only playing in the D-segment and upwards with the likes of the XF. Now the C-segment has another competitor in the mix, and the new XE aims to shake this segment up somewhat. The Jaguar XE’s lines highlight the sleek sportiness of the design. A sleek high-mounted rear brake light, called the "Blade", is very attractive and highly visible. At every angle, you just want to spend more and more time looking at the lines following them from every corner. The interior is still unmistakeable Jaguar elegance and simplicity, but has been modernised substantially with well laid-out controls and a new 8-inch touch-screen infotainment system. The new infotainment system is a huge improvement over the previous one, and was first introduced in the recent Land Rover Discovery Sport. Rear leg room is just about the only downfall in the XE, but even though it’s a tight fit for my average height, it’s by no means uncomfortable. The Jaguar XE range includes three engine derivatives.
