In order to stave off the spiral into irrelevancy, Jaguar is rolling out a few key updates to keep its F-Type fresh for the 2016 model year, including the all-new R All-Wheel Drive model seen here. But is that enough to keep the F-Type fresh. What is it. Based on the F-Type Convertible that has been with us for nearly two years, the R AWD is the ultimate expression of Jaguar's sportiest model. It may look similar to the regular F-Type, but underneath its sheet metal the R packs an up-rated 550-horsepower 5. 0L supercharged V8, all-wheel drive and a quick-shifting eight-speed automatic. With a price tag well into the six-figure range, the Jaguar F-Type R AWD goes up against some pretty stiff competition, including the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 , Porsche 911 Carrera 4S and the BMW M6. Although not as sporting as the F-Type, the... The F-Type joined the "most beautiful car ever built" discussion the second it was unveiled, and the 2016 R model does nothing to move it out of that conversation. Changes from the regular F-Type are pretty much limited to wider sills, a more muscular hood and 20-inch wheels. For the more conservative crowd, the F-Type R's cloth roof can also be had in black, grey and tan. The 2-door sports car debuted less than two years ago, but more variants have been added to the line-up this year, namely an all-wheel-drive variant and a manual gearbox. The compact F-Type isn’t exactly the most advanced sports car around, based on a chopped version of the decade-old XK coupe that preceded it. However, it’s still an immensely-capable sports car, more so than the XK with which we’re intimately... We’ve already talked about the earlier rear-wheel-drive V6 and V8 models so we won’t get into too much detail here about the driving bit. The all-wheel-drive system runs a rear-biased profile most of the time, so the ability to send power to the front wheels does not come into play in dry-weather conditions. About the only think we can say for certain was that the all-wheel-drive one did not act as tail-happy as the rear-wheel-drive model we drove last year. Source: www.drivearabia.com

Jaguar says the upcoming F-Pace has been designed to be a driver’s car, with several elements of the new SUV’s underpinnings using technology from the F-Type sports car. This technology aims to improve the SUV’s ride and handling abilities and includes elements such as a torque vectoring system. This works in conjunction with the torque-on-demand all-wheel drive system and aims to improve agility in corners. The electric power-assisted system has been set up to provide as much feedback as possible, with Jaguar saying it is capable of responding to even the smallest input. Other confirmed technology includes double wishbone front suspension and integral link rear suspension. This latest information comes only a short while after the British firm issued fresh pictures of its new crossover in testing, giving the clearest view yet of how the F-Pace will look. The F-Pace prototype also acted as the support vehicle for the first stage of the Tour de France, the so-called Grand Depart, and carried team members and support equipment for the likes of British riders Chris Froome, Luke Rowe and Peter Kennaugh...
