On sale for more than three decades, the Mitsubishi L200 is one of Britain's most popular pickup trucks. Today, they’re not quite as cheap to run, but this latest version of the Mitsubishi L200 follows a well-trodden path. The latest L200 is a fairly handsome model compared to its main rivals and there's plenty of chrome to excite those looking for some visual pizzazz. Yet for all that, it's possible to buy an L200 for less than £20,000. That buys you the entry-level 4Life trim, which is more of a commercial vehicle than family transport. Even so, all models feature air-con, a switchable 4x4 system and a wide range of safety kit, including seven airbags, traction control and a trailer stability system. The Titan model costs less than £21,000 but adds kit like alloy wheels, tinted glass and DAB digital radio, meaning it rivals the Nissan Navara , Toyota Hilux and Volkswagen Amarok. The interior feels durable, but despite the smattering of upmarket detailing, many of the switches let the side down with a dated look and feel. And since the new Pajero Sport shares its underpinnings with the Mitsubishi L200/Triton ute, it could be a good sport and lend its face for more utilitarian purposes. Long story short, Theophilus Chin took Pajero Sport's brand new threatening face and glued it on the ongoing L200/Triton pickup truck, with the result being clearly visible in the picture above. He even put the two models side by side, to make the changes even more noticeable. We don't know about you, but we think the Pajero Sport mask fits the current Mitsubishi L200/Triton like a charm since there are people who consider the pickup truck falls on the ugly side. Mitsubishi launches all-new L200 pick-up from £19749 - Motor Trader

Mitsubishi dealers will be expecting to boost pick-up sales with the launch of the fifth-generation L200, which arrives in showrooms in September. The current L200, on sale since 2006, is a prime seller, having produced more volume than any other pick-up, and according to Mitsubishi claimed more awards than all of its rivals combined. The pickup features an all-aluminium turbodiesel engine, which Mitsubishi is claiming as a first for the sector. The extra power sees the L200’s 0-62mph time cut by two seconds to 10. 4 seconds while fuel economy and emissions are also greatly improved, the 42. 8mpg combined cycle figure between 11 and 47% better than rivals, with CO2 emissions of 169g/km... Mitsubishi claims a whole host of best-in-class accolades for the L200 – as well as the performance, fuel efficiency and emissions, it is said to have the best manoeuvrability, carrying capacity, all-wheel-drive ability and aerodynamics.
