Outlander heralds fresh outlook at Mitsubishi - Irish Independent

The drive to improve quality and design has already started and "stylish", "cool" and "connected" are now the buzz words as the company opens a new design studio in Frankfurt with an eye to growing European markets where sales have already shown... In the Irish market, sales are also up as Frank Keane celebrates the 30th anniversary of holding the Mitsubishi import franchise. They are in excess of the big market growth generally so far this year - a 48pc improvement in car sales and a 57pc improvement in LCV sales. New to the scene here is a fifth generation L200, an improved version of the Outlander and a new, more economical, 1. 6-litre diesel engine for the ASX. The new, more streamlined, version of the Outlander, Mitsubishi's mid-sized SUV is now on sale. Sound-proofing is also improved, gears are slick and it is now a practical people carrier and off-roader in 4x4 version, and for its size, is reasonably cheap to run. This is a vehicle that will mean different things to different people and its usefulness makes it desirable. A new grille, LED daytime running lights , new bumpers, 18in two-tone alloy wheels give a more upmarket, if not exciting, look. Source: www.independent.ie

Mitsubishi claims interior space in the double cab version has increased. Mitsubishi has replaced the old 2. 5-litre diesel engine with a new common-rail, 2. 4-litre unit offering outputs of 151hp in the entry-level 4Life and 178hp in the Titan, Warrior and Barbarian trims. The new L200's cargo bed is 1470mm long and 1470mm wide. It's also 475mm deep - a 15mm increase on the previous generation. The double cab Series 5's payload capacity of 1045kg also falls short of some of its competitors. However, the L200's combined carrying and towing capacity of 4090kg outshines the D-Max (4013kg), the Hilux (3860kg) and the Amarok (3857kg). The L200 Series 5 comes with two 4WD systems. The entry-level 4Life gets Easy Select offering high and low ratio settings for off-road terrain. It has to be switched to 2WD on-road, where power is directed to the rear wheels.
