Reade's living quarters: "The decor is best described as deer hunter meets sports bar meets quilting bee meets Architectural Digest. Reade's restaurant order for two: "Five of the porterhouse steaks. One clams casino. One clams oreganata. A side of creamed spinach. A side of potatoes Anna. A side of french-fried potatoes. Reade's writing routine: "The general rule is hands on the typewriter by 2 a. m. ". The problem is, Reade can't write the way he used to. Why Corvette Should Become the Next General Motors Sub-Brand - Automobile

I’d hate to see how, for example, a single compact CUV platform might be shared between Chevy, GMC, Buick, Corvette, and Cadillac. I’d bet it’s going to be more like a sub-brand sold at both Cadillac and Chevrolet dealerships with separate Toyota Scion-like showrooms, only fancier. GM’s history of sub-brands goes all the way back to 1926, when Cadillac begat LaSalle and Oakland spawned Pontiac. Chevy got its sub-brand, Geo, in the 1980s. Hummer should have been GMC’s sub-brand. Cadillac needs a sports car , something to compete with the Audi R8, the Mercedes AMG GT, and others of that ilk. If the Corvette Zora was a Chevrolet, Cadillac would have to top an already expensive design. Different engines -- the small block for the Chevy and the new DOHC V-8 for the Cadillac -- wouldn’t be enough either, and in any case, volumes on expensive, mid-engine sports cars are far too small for GM to split the Zora into two models, no... GREENWICH, CT—The Greenwich Concours d’Elegance is a very high-end car show, with million-dollar cars sitting cheek by jowl. One of those that made the cut in Greenwich was a 1954 MG Midget, the last in the series known as the TF (just before the ground-breaking MGA). Owned by Keith Murphy of New Jersey, it had a big sign on it saying “driven to all events. Murphy bought the TF for $1,600 from a neighbor (who tried repeatedly to buy it back) in 1973, had it restored by 1980, then drove it 40,000 miles while life took him all over the country. For Murphy, the culmination of decades of TF ownership was winning first place over a dozen other similar MGs in a recent club meet. He wasn’t looking for big awards in Greenwich, but he got them anyway. "We were astonished when the judges awarded us the 'Best English Sports Car 1954-1960,' Murphy said. The latter bore some resemblance to a totally different but equally exotic car I’d seen the day before at the Dragone Auction — Manny Dragone’s personal 1951 Simca Abarth SC Cabriolet.
