The change came about because a store near the team’s shop, Summit Foods, had an expensive problem. Summit sold dried-fruit confections to candymakers, but the disposal of excess sugary liquid, a side effect of drying fruit, cost them upward of $30,000 a month. “You can’t just pour that down the drain,” says David McCoy, head of Summit’s newly formed fuels subdivision, Summit Natural Energy, which turns leftover sugar and other carbohydrates into bioethanol. Having plenty of waste to work with, Summit’s new business saw great success, so much so that the company spun off a performance-fuel division. Thunderbolt Racing now supplies bioethanol fuel to some 30 race teams, including Coffman Racing. “It’s long been part of our philosophy to be environmentally conscious, but motorsports is inherently environmentally impactful,” says the team’s manager, Jeff Mailley. “What these guys do to reduce waste and make a stable, consistent fuel attracted us. There’s lower consumption and emissions, and we saw a noticeable power bump after we changed over. Man charged with illegal possession - Towanda Daily Review

A Towanda man has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark to answer a charge of possession of an illegal substance. According to information filed in Clark's office, Bradlee Scott Elliott, 21, has also been charged by Towanda police with illegally transferring a license plate from one vehicle to another vehicle. Officer Corey McLinko reported being on patrol in Towanda around 9:30 p. m. on March 3 when he observed a Chevrolet Lumina traveling north on Merrill Parkway. While speaking with Elliott, McLinko said he observed a small plastic baggy containing a green leafy substance in the back of the Lumina. McLinko said Elliott gave him permission to take possession of the baggy. A Towanda man was cited by borough police recently on a charge of theft by unlawful taking. According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Christopher S. Pozzi, 34, has also been charged with receiving stolen property, and public drunkenness. Miller provided the police with a description of the man who had stolen his bicycle, and Edsell and another officer located a suspect matching the description a short time later, walking south on the side.   "I have owned this car for almost 15 years. I bought it used in 1999 with approximately 14k miles on it, and have put on approximately 190k miles since. Over time, I've gotten the entire exhaust system replaced (the catalytic converter located in the exhaust manifold disintegrated over time due to a loose distributor cap causing the engine to misfire for an extended period of time, NOT a typical repair), the rear oil seal replaced, three sets of tires, two complete tune ups, routine fluid changes, brakes, both side CV boots replaced twice and the windshield replaced. Also, it has a timing chain that never needs replaced. The car has been in numerous fender benders, deer collisions & other accidents but is still running like a Swiss watch. It corners decently and gets great gas mileage (about 36 mi./gal.). Not very powerful or fast, but somewhat quick. It is an above average commuter car and is extraordinarily reliable. A+"
