In the nearly 49-minute interview, Bobchick explained the events leading up to the early-evening crash May 8. He said several times he felt like he would have jerked the speeding 2008 Jaguar S-Type which police say was driven by his friend... Sharing details In police interviews, Bobchick said he didnt see any of his friends drinking on May 8 and insisted Manolios was the driver from the time the teens left his house together for Stony Creek. He said Malaj purchased a case of Corona beer at a Shelby Township party store and placed it in the trunk of the Jaguar before they headed to the park. Malaj repeatedly comforted Bobchick and gained his confidence, while Dawn Bobchick listened and complimented Manny as a special, amazing young man. Bobchick claimed he drove the Jaguar the entire time from his home to Stony Creek. He told Malaj that when he briefly stepped from the Jaguar to greet the teenage girls, Narra got into the back seat of the Jaguar and Manolios slid into the drivers seat. When this happened, four of the five occupants (Manolios, Malaj, Wells and Narra) were not wearing seatbelts, and all four were ejected from the car, Swinkowski said. The person who did wear a seatbelt (Bobchick) sustained minor injuries, and was released from the hospital after a few days of observation. SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Heartbreak rippled through the community as news of the deaths of three Utica Community Schools teenagers spread following a May 8 car crash at Stony Creek Metropark. The families of the teens are now working with Huron-Clinton Metroparks officials to plan a memorial at the location where the black 2008 Jaguar S-Type went over a guardrail, rolled down a grassy slope and came to rest in the Stony Creek spillway. Lauren Haboosh, 20, of Clinton Township, said she and Karen Narra, of Shelby Township, wanted to do something good to remember the loved ones and combat some of the negative attention that the story received. Haboosh is Joseph Narra’s cousin, and Karen Narra is Joseph’s mother. She said Karen Narra, her aunt, also wanted to donate to a memorial at Stony Creek Metropark. Some families were already doing it, and so we collaborated with them,” Haboosh said. “We kind of had an idea to do, like, three trees near the accident in a row to symbolize the boys. and Michael Wells, 17, of Macomb Township, who were all pronounced dead at the crash scene May 8. “We’re still having a hard time with it,” Haboosh said.
