The 81-year-old Hill, suffering from Parkinson’s disease, had attended a ceremony at Quail Lodge honoring his friend, fellow driver Dan Gurney, earlier in the day. “He was very with it that day, asking a lot of questions, extremely interested in everything, but toward the afternoon I could tell he was starting to falter,” remembered Alma Hill, his widow. The track Hill wanted to see wasn’t there anymore, but he knew where it had been. The serpentining course had hosted the Pebble Beach Road Race from 1950, when Hill took first place in a Jaguar XK 120, to 1956, when Carroll Shelby’s victory was marred by the crash that killed Ernie McAfee. Alma Hill waved the green flag Friday for a half-dozen historic, bright-red Ferraris that navigated three laps around a circuit that simulated the old course — a re-enactment of the Pebble Beach Road Races — and admitted afterward that her. 2015 Jaguar XF 3.0 TDV6 300 review - News - What Car?

The XF has been Jaguar’s entry-level car since its launch in 2008. Now, with the smaller XE filling that position, Jaguar has taken the opportunity to re-shape the XF into an even more advanced premium executive saloon. It’s also marginally smaller, although Jaguar says it has even more space inside. Styling changes over the old car are minimal, but include changes to the car’s front grille, while at the rear end new lights have been inspired by those used on the F-Type sports car – giving the XF a distinctive appearance. Also new are Jaguar Land Rover’s Ingenium diesel engines – 2. 0-litre, four-cylinder powerplants which allow the XF to return more than 70mpg in some cases. Other engine options include the same 3. 0-litre supercharged V6 petrol already found in the F-Type sports car and a tweaked version of the current car’s 3. 0-litre V6 turbodiesel. Two reasons: first, the XKR is a great car in any garb, and second, because Jaguar happily exercised a modicum of restraint in making this the pick of the litter. Besides the usual exterior bits, such as its blue-black metallic paint (called "Celestial Black" and exclusive to the Portfolio), Jaguar took advantage of all that space under its 20-inch "Cremona" wheels to install Jaguar's biggest-ever brake... Besides making pretty much everything on the XKR option list standard—including the softest of Jaguar's leather upholstery and the upgraded 525-watt surround-sound audio system—the XKR Portfolio adds a set of gorgeous Bowers and Wilkins... Buyers of the XK Portfolio Edition have few actual choices to make: "Charcoal" or "Dove" leather for the seats, and either machine-turned metal or matte-finished American Walnut for the dash and door trim. Only 255 will make it to the U. S, so you won't be seeing too many of these particular black cats crossing your path—especially since, according to Jag, nearly all of them are already sold.
