Modern Jaguar S-Type Values Rise - Classic Cars for Sale

Auctioneers are tipping the second generation Jaguar S-type , introduced in 1999, as a classic investment despite its current values being overshadowed by the larger XJ models. Prices for the Geoff Lawson-penned executive saloon are currently stabilising, and specialists believe more desirable variants like the range-topping S-type R are now going up in price. Rob George, co-director of Anglia Car Auctions, said: ‘The R model had the word classic written all over them even when they were new. 0-litre V6s in manual form fly along too and they’re all real driver’s cars, but for many the diesel model is the best. Barons’ Laurence Sayers-Gillan says the V8 models, and especially the S-Type R, are becoming more collectable but other models aren’t being snapped-up. North Wales Jag Centre’s Matthew Norbury says very early (T- and V-plate) models are thin on the ground and suspension maladies have seen many S-Types being scrapped, but values of the performance R model are now on the rise. ‘You can get a mint pre-facelift model for around £1500, but facelift models (2005-on) will be dearer. ‘The R’s perhaps the best car you could buy pound for pound, but it’s important to buy on history and not on mileage. Families of Stony Creek crash victims plan 5K park walk - The Detroit News

Shelby Township — Family of two teens who survived a high-speed crash that took the lives of three friends last month will hold a 5K Walk fundraiser at Stony Creek Metropark’s Oakgrove Park on Sunday. Joseph Narra and Gregory Bobchick, both 17-year-old juniors from Shelby Township, survived the crash that took the lives of their friends Jonathan Manolios, Emanuel Malaj and Michael Wells, all 17-year-old juniors from Sterling Heights. Police said the three were killed when the driver of a speeding 2008 Jaguar S-type they were in lost control on a park road, hit a guardrail, tore through a fence and landed in the Stony Creek River. “This is a way to put out positive energy,” said 20-year-old Lauren Haboosh, Narra’s cousin. Haboosh said they hope the walk will draw at least 300 participants and raise $5,000. Some of the proceeds will be donated to the Firefighter Association of Washington Township, Haboosh said, in honor of the firefighter who saved Narra’s life. Haboosh of Shelby Township said the families of the five teens want to raise awareness of safe driving and the importance of wearing a seat belt. Only one of the boys was wearing a seat belt. Family members said the car was owned by the father of one of the boys. “He is pretty beaten up,” Haboosh said of Narra. Source: www.detroitnews.com
