VIRGINIA BEACH, Va (WVEC) -- Robert Glenn Horton pleaded guilty Tuesday in Norfolk Circuit Court to 1 count of Involuntary Manslaughter (DUI). He was charged following the a two vehicle wreck back in July of 2014 that resulted in the death of Tyler Carnes. 21 year-old Tyler Carnes of Virginia Beach was driving east on I-64 on Thursday night when his 1998 Honda Civic experienced mechanical trouble west of the Twin Bridges and east of the I-264 interchange. As he waited for help to arrive, a 2001 Ford Explorer ran off the road to the left and struck the Honda Civic. Police say Carnes suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The driver of the Explorer was identified as 47 year-old Robert G. Horton of Norfolk. Horton was charged with driving under the influence, 2nd offense, and taken to Norfolk City jail where he received a $1500 secured bond. I mean he didn't deserve that, no one deserves that,' she said. Police said they'll present the case to the Commonwealth's Attorney to determine if further charges are warranted. WESTMINSTER -- A wrong-way crash on Route 140 northbound sent a 42-year-old Westminster man to Heywood Hospital for an evaluation Monday, a state police spokesman said. Callers said the man was driving his 2010 Honda Civic erratically and struck a guardrail several times before ending up on Route 140 northbound, said Sgt. He struck a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by a 22-year-old woman from Winchendon about 3:25 p. m. , Ryan said. Traffic was impacted for about a half hour, he said. State police were investigating the crash. No charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon, Ryan said.
