The Board of Nemaha County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, August 24,. 2015 in the Commissioner’s Room of the Nemaha County Courthouse. Present also were Commissioners Gary Scoby and Tim Burdiek, Road and Bridge/Solid Waste Supervisor Dennis Ronnebaum and Office Manager Janet Linden, and County Clerk Mary Kay Schultejans recording the minutes. Road and Bridge/Solid Waste Supervisor Dennis Ronnebaum advised the board that:. he received bids for a new truck in the Road & Bridge Department. Honeyman Ford bid $28,300 for a 2016 Ford F-250 XL, $29,370 for a 2016 Ford F-250 XLT, $30,350 for a. 2016 Ford F-250 SuperCab XL, and $31,690 for a 2016 Ford F-250 SuperCab XLT. Aberle Ford bid $29,450 for a 2016 Ford F-250 XLT, $32,850 for a 2015 Ford F-350. XLT, and $31,750 for a 2016 Ford F-250 SuperCab XLT. $28,900 for a 2016 Dodge Ram 2500, $32,200 for a 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 Crew Cab,. $30,730 for a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500HD, and $40,730 for a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500HD Crew Cab. Township to retire, replace ill K-9 officer - Grandblancview

— Despite the best in surgical and therapeutic intervention, the Township police department reported to the board that they will need to replace K-9 Officer Max who is suffering from a genetic spinal problem which affects his ability to work... Max’s partner, Paul Connelly also came to the board meeting, and stated that although they were sure to have dozens of offers for a home for Max, his wife said the dog would “absolutely not” go anywhere but with them. Max’s surgery, to correct spinal pressure, and subsequent therapy cost more than $6,000 but Police Chief David Stamm said he has not made the full recovery they had hoped for and is experiencing lameness, inability to jump, and some discomfort. As a township asset, Max would be sold to the Connelly’s for $1 and they would continue to take care of him — as well as adding his replacement to the family. and also because he will witness Connelly and a new dog going to work. The new dog and handler training will cost $12,500, which will be taken from the drug forfeiture fund, which Max was a huge leader in creating. Max and the other K-9, Jimmie, were originally purchased from donations and fundraisers, and according to Stamm, Jimmie is doing quite well. Officer Max is set to retire Sept.
