Gary Pinkel confirmed that defensive lineman Harold Brantley will miss the entire 2015 season after suffering injuries in a car accident last month. Brantley has already undergone surgery for a broken leg and will need further surgery on his left knee in the coming weeks. “He’s in good spirits,” Pinkel said. He got hurt in many, many ways. He’s not going to play this year but we certainly expect him to get back, get going. He’s going to go through tough times, naturally. He’s very, very disappointed. We’re going to miss his leadership, his play. “He can get 100 percent healthy and be a great player and still accomplish all his goals and graduate,” Pinkel added. With Brantley out of the picture, Pinkel said Josh Augusta and Rickey Hatley will have to pick up the slack. Hatley was ahead of Augusta on the depth chart coming out of spring practices. “We expect them both to have great years,” Pinkel said. That could mean new defensive coordinator could opt for more three-man defensive lines, as he used prominently the last three years at Memphis. The flare, located near the Bicentennial hiking trail is burning off excess gas in the line so maintenance crews can work on the pipeline, according to the Railroad Commission of Texas. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s Harlingen Region Office received a complaint Friday alleging that the gas well had been flaring since Thursday night, and that residents said they can taste the chemicals and feel the flare’s heat... But the TCEQ, which regulates off-site air quality of oil and natural gas operations, said that proper flaring can be a responsible way for companies to dispose of excess material. Future fuel: City mulls fueling buses, garbage trucks with landfill gas - INFORUM

Gas from Fargo’s landfill is already used to generate power and heat, but there’s enough left to fuel the city’s buses and garbage trucks as well. By removing moisture and impurities, the landfill gas can be converted to natural gas suitable for use in specially equipped vehicles.
