"The most important point of our study is that vehicle weight and price have a positive relationship with vehicle safety," said Dietrich Jehle, MD, professor of emergency medicine in the UB School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, who... Jehle, who also is an attending physician in the Emergency Department at Erie County Medical Center, has long studied the variables that contribute to injuries sustained in car accidents. "Neither media advertising nor the five-star safety ratings accurately reflect the level of danger or lack of danger in vehicles. The five-star crash ratings reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are based on results from crash tests that may be technically accurate but may not completely reflect what happens in real-world crashes with multiple cars,... "When smaller cars hit a larger, moving vehicle, that change in velocity can force the smaller car to go into reverse, resulting in far more serious injuries to driver and passenger. Instead, Jehle and his colleagues studied personal injury claims data as an indicator of vehicle safety in the 17 states that have no-fault insurance. Witnesses at the scene of a parking garage collapse at UHS Wilson Medical Center described a burst of sudden, terrifying chaos Thursday. Wallis Kraham of Hillcrest and her husband, former Broome County Executive Jeff Kraham, had parked their car in the lot, where it became trapped by the collapse. "We heard a loud noise, and we look up and all the concrete is coming down," Wallis Kraham said. Jennifer Merrell of Harpursville said she had parked her 2003 GMC Sierra truck -- which had just received repairs the day before to its fuel pump, wheel bearing and tailgate -- on the upper level of the garage. Merrell said she and her son were in an exam room when they were told to evacuate the building.   The video covers the most common cause of the service 4wd message in the 2003-2006 Silverado/Sierra trucks. Because it comes up so frequently, I decided not to use my GM scan tool to pull the code(s) and instead went straight to the #1 offender and tested it with a DMM. I follow the same test procedure when I pull a B2725 code from the transfer case module.

  Of course, the "correct" way to handle the service 4wd message is to have the codes read first, but this is do it yourself, not take it to a shop yourself.
