ROAD TEST EDITOR JAKE LINGEMAN: So cheap. I’ve been driving a lot of expensive machinery lately, leading me to debate the merits of $100,000-$200,000 super- and sports cars , but getting back in this Camaro for a fourth or fifth time. Just less than 600 hp for just less than $60K -- are you kidding me. It can be driven all day long, too. I drove one of our racing guys home and even he remarked on how comfortable it is over our crumbling roads. Gas mileage isn’t great, but that mass is what helps it feel so smooth and planted on the road. Of course, if you want to lighten things up a bit, just smash the throttle and this car will slip-n-slide up into third gear. The brakes feel great for standard steelies. And being this cheap gets you stuff like peeling door sill stickers and panels that aren’t quite simpatico. This car in particular has been thrashed by journalists for a few thousand miles, so we’ll give it a little break. Power with the supercharger is overwhelming from upshift to upshift. The nose does get off the ground a bit, until your acceleration slows and the whole car planes out. I personally still like the Mustang’s “feel”. Source: autoweek.com

Both Colorado and Canyon are based on the Global mid-size truck platform currently on sale in Thailand and other markets. But this is not simply a reslathering of Chevy and GMC signage on that truck, though that truck is a fine place to start. The Global mid-sized truck has fully boxed frame rails, for one, which is a solid foundation on which to build. But the Chevy and GMC versions get lots of technology not found on the Global truck platform: hydraulic engine mounts. and extensive noise and acoustic countermeasures not found on the Global truck. -model trucks even get an optional OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot , MyLink/Intellilink and access to Siri via steering wheel controls. In short, the new midsize trucks are ready for U. S. buyers. We took short hops in rear wheel-drive versions of both the 2. 5-liter four-cylinder and 3. 6-liter V6-powered trucks over varied terrain and found the noise- and ride isolation to be substantially improved over both the previous models –-... Both test trucks came mated to six-speed automatics. (The base-model Chevy Work Truck offers a six-speed manual with the four-cylinder engine and extended cab only. Ever since the S-10 was introduced in 1981, Chevrolet enthusiasts have been forced to drop their own V-8s into Chevy’s compact pickups—the bow-tie division didn’t see fit to offer eight-pot power in its pint-size trucks. Big power in a light truck can make for some startling acceleration times. The Chevrolet Colorado is available for 2009 with an optional 5. 3-liter V-8. The question is whether a small-block V-8 can spice up what is, frankly, a pretty lackluster vehicle. In its latest comparison test appearance, the Colorado finished last out of five trucks and was flayed for its rental-car interior, unrefined engine, and upright rear backrest. At minimum, the new V-8 is a good remedy for the thrashy 242-horse, 3. 7-liter inline five-cylinder engine currently found in lesser Colorados (and GMC Canyons, which also receive the V-8 option for ’09). The throaty 5. 3-liter (only available on... (The five was upgraded in 2007 with more power, so the difference in times would be less today.
