2015 GMC Canyon - The Advocate

These new mid-size pickups are about the size that full-sized trucks used to be before they went on steroids. The Canyon is nearly identical to the Colorado, but offers more upscale packaging and slightly higher payload capability. The Canyon carries Sierra DNA and the Colorado gets the Silverado’s. The Canyon is offered in base, SLE and SLT models, in 2WD and 4WD, and with an aggressively styled All-Terrain package offered on SLE models. It’s been more than 10 years since the mid-size pickup segment has seen anything dramatically new, but GM is shaking up the segment with these two new trucks. A new model of one of the Canyon’s main rivals – the Toyota Tacoma – is being launched later this summer. Perhaps the most compelling argument for the Canyon and Colorado is their size. Available bed lengths are 5-foot-2 and 6-foot-2, and a new optional GearOn cargo management system adds flexibility to the truck bed. The standard engine in the Canyon is a 2. 5-liter Inline 4-cylinder that generates 200 horsepower and 191 lb. -ft. of torque. An available 3. 6-liter V6 boosts horsepower to 305, and sends 269 lb. -ft. of torque to the wheels.
