The lawsuit filed this week alleges that the two agencies violated the National Environmental Policy Act and the Department of Transportation Act by “failing to consider adequately the significant harm the freeway would inflict on the environment... It will connect the Southeast Valley and Southwest Valley by extending Loop 202 through part of the Ahwatukee Foothills, South Mountain Preserve, and Laveen area, eventually connecting to I-10 near 59th Avenue. “The proposed freeway would destroy parts of three ridges of South Mountain and also would destroy or alter many trails, shrines, and archaeological sites that constitute significant cultural resources for the community and its members,” Gila... “South Mountain, or Muhadagi Doag, is one of the community’s most important and sacred natural resources. It’s now not only the largest automotive recall ever, but one of the largest-ever consumer-product recalls in history—greater in number, as the The Wall Street Journal points out, than the 31 million bottles of Tylenol capsules recalled in the... Earlier reports blamed the propellent as a possible cause, while other reports earlier suggested that the inflators themselves had been damaged during storage or transit. Parts and repairs: A long, complicated road ahead. One of the biggest issues pertaining to the recall—more so than keeping dealership service departments busy—is getting new parts for the repairs. A federal statement said that it’s expected that vehicles will be prioritized for repairs based on relative risk—which corresponds to the age of the vehicle and whether it’s been in a high-moisture climate. What better way is there to celebrate America’s birthday than to provide a life-changing gift to someone who has served our country in the U. S. Marines and Navy. For the second time in seven months, Western Nevada College has worked with National Auto Body Council Executive Director Chuck Sulkala, State Farm Insurance Company, and the Recycled Rides project to donate a refurbished automobile to a deserving... For both of WNC’s Recycled Rides projects, State Farm Insurance donated the vehicles. On Saturday, July 4, at the Carson City campus, WNC presented a 2006 GMC Envoy car to Michael Atkinson, a veteran who is enrolled at the college. “We were looking at not only someone who has served our country but is also serving their community when they got back,” said Timothy Galluzi, a pre-admissions adviser for WNC’s Veterans Resource Center who served eight years in the U. S. Marine... Atkinson was selected, in part, because of his contributions to both of WNC’s Recycled Rides project. They both joined the U. S. Navy in 2008, and Atkinson eventually became part of the U. S. Marine Corps, where he helped assist the injured on front lines in Afghanistan. Source: carsonnow.org
