GMC Introduces 2016 Canyon Duramax Diesel - The News Wheel

When the return of the GMC Canyon was announced in 2014 , it was made clear that the 2016 model year would be bolstered by the introduction of a turbodiesel engine. Sure enough, GMC has announced the 2016 Canyon powered by a 2. 8-liter Duramax diesel engine, and it does not disappoint in any way. The 2016 GMC Canyon diesel will produce 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, and it will feature a Hydra-Matic 6L50 six-speed transmission with a Centrifugal Pendulum Vibration Absorber in the torque converter for reduced noise and vibration. 2016 Toyota Tacoma: Who Should (and Should Not) Buy This Truck - The Cheat Sheet

It might not be a radical departure from the current Tacoma, but at the same time, the new one shores up the old truck’s weaknesses and offers considerable off-roading capability. It would appear, then, that everyone looking to buy a midsize pickup truck should buy a new Tacoma. There are certainly a lot of people who will enjoy the new Tacoma, but there are some people who would probably be happier with a different truck. The first group that comes to mind is people who will be using their truck to tow on a regular basis. Equipped with the V6 Tow Package, the new Tacoma can tow 6,800 pounds, but the Chevrolet Colorado can handle 200 pounds more than that. The Colorado also has rear disc brakes, which will give drivers a little more confidence while towing compared to the Tacoma’s rear drum brakes. There’s also a 2. 8-liter Duramax diesel engine coming to GM’s midsize trucks soon, which is capable of towing even more weight. If you buy the Tacoma with the towing package, it will probably perform fine, but the truck itself wasn’t designed with towing as a priority. The Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon will be available this fall with a new 2. 8-liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel that’ll cost $3,730 more than equivalent trucks with V6 gasoline engines. At starting prices of $31,700 and $33,200, respectively, the diesels will deliver 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque that’s good for a max tow rating of 7,700 pounds in two-wheel-drive trucks, up from 7,000 for the V6. The diesels are available only... They come with a six-speed automatic fitted with a centrifugal pendulum vibration absorber to reduce engine vibration and an exhaust braking system what works with both the cruise control on downhill stretches and with the pedal. One thing that’s yet to be announced is fuel economy, but GM says it will beat the current gasoline four-cylinder’s top rating of 27 mpg. Source: www.foxnews.com
