Sheriff: Suspect in Plaquemine stabbing arrested in St. Landry Parish - WAFB.com

Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi says a woman is being treated for stab wounds in Plaquemine, LA after being stabbed multiple times Monday afternoon. Just after 2 p. m. emergency officials were called to Roucher's Meat Market in Plaquemine, LA. Sheriff Stassi said the woman was at a boat landing on Bayou Road when she was stabbed. A woman driving down the road saw what looked like a car crash and pulled over to find the victim near the vehicle. The woman called police and took the victim to the meat market to meet up with an Iberville deputy. Sheriff Stassi identified the suspect as 31-year-old Travis Howell, a white male, who may be driving a 2010 burgundy Ford Focus with license plate number VXB684. Deputies arrested Howell around 4 p. m. in St. Landry Parish. Officials say Howell has been convicted for theft, simple burglary, and drug possession. He was released for good behavior and was placed on parole supervision on April 25, 2014 and was off of probation on July 6, 2015. The victim had been stabbed at least two times. Accident on Northern and Kenworthy: 4 CHS students among 5 hospitalized - TriValley Central

According to the Coolidge Police Department, the accident happened at 5:16 PM and was a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Kenworthy Road and Northern Avenue. Preliminary investigation and witness accounts have indicated a 2000 Ford Focus, which had four teenagers, was traveling westbound on Northern Avenue. Police said the Focus failed to stop at a posted stop sign on Northern Avenue at Kenworthy Road and was struck on the driver’s side by a 2010 Chevrolet truck driven by the 61 year-old male that was traveling northbound on Kenworthy. All four in the Ford Focus required extrication by Coolidge Fire. All in the Ford Focus and the one occupant in the Chevrolet truck were air lifted to valley trauma centers. The police department was contacted by a Coolidge High School cheer coach. Coolidge Police, Coolidge Fire, three units from Southwest Ambulance, and five air ambulances responded to the scene. Questions regarding donations can be answered at the CYC at 520-723-1750. In addition, CYC has reached out to the girls and their families in regards to emergency stop gap funds including gas, travel, lodgeing and food, as well as many others.
