Accident on Northern and Kenworthy: 4 CHS students among 5 hospitalized - TriValley Central

According to the Coolidge Police Department, the accident happened at 5:16 PM and was a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Kenworthy Road and Northern Avenue. Preliminary investigation and witness accounts have indicated a 2000 Ford Focus, which had four teenagers, was traveling westbound on Northern Avenue. Police said the Focus failed to stop at a posted stop sign on Northern Avenue at Kenworthy Road and was struck on the driver’s side by a 2010 Chevrolet truck driven by the 61 year-old male that was traveling northbound on Kenworthy. All four in the Ford Focus required extrication by Coolidge Fire. All in the Ford Focus and the one occupant in the Chevrolet truck were air lifted to valley trauma centers. The police department was contacted by a Coolidge High School cheer coach. Coolidge Police, Coolidge Fire, three units from Southwest Ambulance, and five air ambulances responded to the scene.
