Evans smiled when asked about Marionville, Strafford’s opponent in the News-Leader Game of the Week. “The biggest thing I remember playing high school football, I guess, has to be beating Marionville and Fair Grove,” Evans said. A venture away from football took Evans from the locker room to the showroom. Evans chose to play for Oklahoma because he liked that the Sooners were national championship contenders and had a team chemistry he liked. It took 10 weeks for me to even put weight on it,” Evans said. Eight months of rehabilitation later, Evans returned to the field. “The second day of spring ball in 2013, I re-tore the same ACL,” Evans said. Evans faced a full year of rehabilitation after the second tear. “I thought my career was done, but the coaching staff hung with me,” Evans said. In 2014, Evans again took the field at Memorial. A 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Woodrow Crawshaw Jr. , 76, Marion, was northbound on US-77 approaching the K-150 junction. Police reported that a semi ran through a stop sign in front of him at 5:58 a. m. Aug. Crawshaw drove on the right shoulder to avoid the semi and went across K-150 hitting a stop sign in the center of K-150, and coming to a rest on the westbound shoulder of K-150 facing east. US-77 north of 190th Rd. Octavio Sandoval, 31, Elgin, Illinois, was driving southbound on US-77 with passengers Ireno Moreno, 28, Jose Villegas-Soto, 37, Jose Rodgrio, 29, and Emilano Moreno, 20, when the left rear tire fell off the 2005 Chevrolet... Sandoval then drove the truck, owned by Richardo Moreno, Wamego, off the shoulder of the road at 6:26 a. m. Aug. The truck was towed from the scene. Dewight Rd. east of Pawnee Rd. So should you be trying to get into the vintage-car game. Lots of Idling The Pebble Beach sales, like most marquee car auctions, are an exception. Only about 3 percent of vintage cars sell at auction and they are the best of the best. In reality, values for scads of vintage cars have been relatively stable for years. Detroit classics from the 1950s, for example, have mostly idled in the past decade, according to Hagerty Insurance, which tracks the values of the various old rides it underwrites. The same goes for muscle cars and so- called affordable collectibles like the Triumph TR6 and the Volkswagen Beetle. Rolling assets are not in any way recession-proof, no matter what the exotic car dealer tells you. In the 2008 downturn, the only upside to owning a vintage Mercedes 300 with gull-wing doors was feeling slightly less frightened to actually drive it.
