More than 1100 pounds of marijuana found in truck - KGBT-TV

Border Patrol agents arrested a Mexican man on Thursday after finding more than 1,100 pounds of marijuana inside a Ford truck. Agents assigned to the Brownsville station were advised of a white pickup truck being loaded with bundles of marijuana at about 1 p. m. , according to a news release by U. S. Customs and Border Protection. "A few minutes later, agents found the truck abandoned on the side of the road with bundles of marijuana inside the cab and bed of the truck," according to the news release. "I can't believe something like this happened to somebody who does nothing wrong," said Seth Lempert, a friend of Ewing's who he once slung pizzas alongside at a local restaurant. Ewing and a few friends had left Owen's Cafe, a tiny neighborhood joint on Cottman Avenue near Revere Street, in Mayfair, and were walking to his house on Revere. Just before 3 a. m. , the driver of a passing Ford pickup truck got into a confrontation with Ewing. Police described the killer as a Hispanic man wearing a white T-shirt and shorts, who drove a dark blue or black Ford F-150 or F-250 pickup truck with a covered bed. And as investigators scoured the city last night for Ewing's killer, his friends created a tiny memorial for him on the spot where he lost his life. A bouquet of flowers, a cigarette and a golfball covered in loving scribbles lay last night on a manhole cover in front of Ewing's house. CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Cleveland man was found guilty Thursday of stealing a truck and driving it into a Westlake bar packed with people, badly injuring 13 of them. A Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court jury found Brandon Pawlak, 27, guilty on 30 of the 32 counts he faced, including aggravated robbery, aggravated vehicular assault, failure to comply with the orders of a police officer, grand theft, and... Prosecutors argued throughout the trial that Pawlak stole one truck at 3 a. m. on Oct. 23, 2014 before stealing another around 8:30 p. m. later that day from the Sweetbriar Golf Club. Employees of the club noticed Pawlak and another man, Matthew Sowden, milling around the club's various trucks and called the police. Pawlak stole a white Ford F-250 pickup truck from the golf club and led police on a five-minute chase reaching speeds of 80 mph down Detroit Road when an officer threw stop sticks on the road. The truck careened through the bar's wall, pinning two bartenders behind the bar and badly injuring 11 patrons. He told the jury it was the most intense pain he'd ever felt in his life, and that he still wakes up every day in pain following several major reconstructive surgeries and months of rehabilitation.
