In 2009, Dave Lamoureux successfully hooked and reeled in a 5-foot-6, 157-pound bluefin tuna all while sitting in a 12-foot Heritage kayak, the kind of thing most of us use to go out for an afternoon paddle. He set a world record with the catch, landing a fish that normally requires a large boat and heavy-duty deep-sea fishing tackle. A couple years later, he snagged a much larger fish and told us about his epic battle. I always fish in the tuna grounds off the backside of Cape Cod, where there are some underwater formations about a mile off the coast. But in reality tuna are freight trains — the toughest fighting fish out there. I was about a mile and a half off the coast when I hooked it. After hooking so many fish — more get away than you land — you can judge how big they are by how hard they are pulling and by the direction that they run. The smaller fish run parallel to shore, which I love. The big boys run immediately out to sea. But here's the reality: you're in a 12-foot kayak and you don't weigh a lot. You need a lot of force to set the hook. When a tuna hits, it stops your forward momentum and starts pulling you backwards and under. Within a second or two, you have to swing around and change the drag to loosen it before the kayak gets pulled under backwards. Source: www.esquire.com

The lighter weight aluminum greatly increases fuel economy, important for as it and other automakers need to comply with much higher fuel economy rules. But it's risky since truck buyers are used to steel trucks. The F-150 is the best selling car or truck in the United States and key for Ford's profitability. Better fuel economy is not much of a selling point these days, with the cheapest gas prices since 2009. So Ford is advertising its increased towing capacity. It's also an important win for VW, which posted some of the worst U. S. sales of any major automaker in 2014. Ford Motor hadn't redesigned the F-150 full sized truck since 2009, but there didn't seem to be any big hurry. But Ford went the other way. The 112-year-old Detroit carmaker disclosed that the new F-150 would showcase an aluminum body, the first time that's been done for a top-selling full size pickup. Not only would Ford have to invest in new technology to build the truck, the company would face scrutiny over its out-of-the-box decision. "The entire industry watches Ford when it comes out (with new models)," Palmetto Ford sales manager Scott Lambert said, noting that the carmaker leads in technology. Put in football parlance - the Ford family owns the NFL's Detroit Lions - the carmaker could have called a low-risk play and gained positive yardage but chose to throw deep in a bid for a quick-strike touchdown.
