The 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS follows a tried and true formula of taking a small an unassuming car and dropping a powerful engine into it. The Super Sport (SS) label of the Cobalt was sold from 2005 to 2010. It started out with a Supercharged... It came as a sedan and a coupe, but the focus of this article is on the 2009 Turbocharged coupe. Desirability Among all the Cobalt SS variations, the turbo coupe stands out for several reasons. It was sold only as 2009 model year, spanning 2008 and 2009 calendar years. Oh, and Motor Trend used an early Turbo Coupe to clock a 8:22. 85 lap around the famed Nurburgring, which happens to be the fastest time for a front wheel driven car. That has some ring to it – fastest front wheel drive car. The Cobalt SS comes with many performance oriented goodies. You also get a limited slip differential to keep both front wheels biting. Thankfully, there are the capable Brembo brakes up front to slow you down again. On the inside, there are the comfortable and supportive SS seats and a beefy steering wheel. And these oddball customs usually are very hard to sell and dont bring in any money,a low mileage mint oddball custom brings in less money than a beat up 400,000 mile well used stock survivor car of same vintage. This will be laughed at. the specialty vehicles sought after by collectors are FACTORY BUILT,not these disasters that a dealer that was on t. v pimpin' rides was on. The only dealer collector cars were back in the 60's-70's where they souped up GM... But even those with documents and are well known dont generally bring in more money than a same version in the same shape. This Ford Bat $hit will be laughed at for decades,for example the only collector trucks in the current past (last 10 years) will be the Dodge RAM SRT-10 and the Ford Raptor,as it is a factory custom truck,but wont bring in money like the 60's-70... They will be worth maybe double a mint low mile same year,version of the base model truck of the manufacturer. Example say in 20 years a base f-150 low mile like new is worth $7500,the Raptor in same low mile mint condition would be worth $15,000. Sport-tuned suspensions, 18-inch wheels, four-wheel disc brakes (base versions of each have rear drums), and the obligatory rear spoiler are all part of the package for both the Ford and Chevy. Both have six-speed transmissions, and the torque spread between the two cars is only 2 pound-feet. In the Focus Titanium's engine bay sits a naturally aspirated, direct-injection 2. 0-liter inline-four that produces 160 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the Cruze LTZ RS' turbocharged 1. 4-liter four-banger turns out 138 horsepower, but 148 pound-feet of torque. The Focus flaunts a state-of-the-art dual-clutch automatic, while the Cruze makes do with a conventional torque converter. Each offers a manual shift mode, the Focus via lever-mounted push button, the Cruze with a typical forward-and-back tug of the lever. Inside, the Focus features plenty of soft plastic at all the major touch points, dash and door sills included. The Focus' steering wheel is perfectly sized, and while the vast array of four-way buttons appear complicated at first, the layout is easy to get used to. We liked the layout of the Cruze's.
