August 2015 Sales: Ford, FCA Make Gains While GM Slides - Motor Trend

The volatile global stock markets last month led industry analysts to predict a drop in sales for all Big Three domestic automakers. Ford and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, however, proved them wrong and pushed through August with sales gains. Ford posted a 5-percent jump in year-over-year sales, while FCA squeaked by with a 2-percent boost. General Motors saw its sales decline by 1 percent (0. 7 percent). August was the best month ever for Chevrolet crossovers, while GMC pickup trucks enjoyed a double-digit sales increase. Not surprisingly, the Ford F-Series was a top seller, cresting 70,000 units sold for the first time this year. Mustang, Transit, and Edge sales were also strong for the Blue Oval. MT says The Buick Encore continues to be a surprising sales success with 28. 2% increase for Aug. MT: How can you completely skip over the fact that August 2014 included Labor Day weekend sales. Anyone doing higher should be praised, given the missing holiday weekend sales this year. September 2015 sales, not surprisingly, should be much higher than a year ago because the entire Labor Day weekend sales will be included this year. The sales of Ford and Apple prove how stupid the average consumer is today. Source: wot.motortrend.com
