Note: Cylinder comes with keys for cutting template only, will not start car.Correct resistance key is required.This ignition lock cylinder is intended for a vehicle with VATS (Vehicle Anti-Theft system) The original key has an embedded resistor pellet used to communicate with the vehicle's decoder module to help prevent unauthorized vehicle use. The keys that come with the cylinder should be used as pilots to have new keys made. The system will not function with the wrong key or key with out resistor.
On models equipped with an air bag system, the system need to be disarmed before ignition lock cylinder installation. Refer to the proper manual for instructions.
Remove and Replace:1) Remove Steering Wheel.2) Remove turn signal switch.3) Remove Buzzer switch.4) Place lock cylinder in the lock position.5) Remove lock cylinder retaining screw.6) disconnect the ignition lock cylinder electrical connector at bulkheadconnection at the base of the column.7) Attach a mechanics wire to ignition lock cylinder electrical connection and carefully pull the wire through the steering column housing. The mechanicswire will then be used for installation of the new ignition lock cylinder.8) Remove the ignition lock cylinder.9) Reverse the procedure to install the new cylinder.10) Torque ignition lock cylinder to 22-30 inch Lbs.
