2008 Cadillac STS - Car and Driver
We like, but don't love, the Cadillac STS. Reason being, its base V-6 model is tepid, and the V-8 model, although robust, is heavy and expensive. Well, good news: For 2008, the STS gets a 298-hp, 3. 6-liter direct-injection V-6 standard, and the styling is livened up by adopting a cue or two from the stunning Cadillac Sixteen show car. Now, whereas the 2008 STS still ain't no Sixteen, its larger, "multitextured" Cadillac family grille brings it a bit closer, adding some much-needed presence to its previously vacant expression. Interior updates include a new dash design and a new steering wheel with optional sapele pommele wood trim. The base engine is now the same V-6 as that in the STS's little brother, the 2008 CTS. Besides the mill's additional horsepower (44 more than the 2007 model) and 268 pound-feet of torque (16 more than last year's), the new 3. 6 is said to suck down less fuel while spewing fewer emissions. And the V-6 model now trades in its five-speed for the six-speed automatic from the V-8 model. Source: www.caranddriver.com
