Deputies: Suspended driver falls asleep at the wheel, hits tree - KPTV.com
A driver with a suspended license fell asleep at the wheel, crashed into a tree and was trapped inside her SUV until firefighters could rescue her, according to deputies. Investigators said a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe went off the roadway and hit a tree, pinning the driver inside. Investigators said Stevens had fallen asleep while driving and lost control of her SUV. She was cited for driving while suspended and driving uninsured. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said this is at least the fourth incident in the last week deputies have responded to involving fatigued or sleeping drivers. "If you feel yourself feeling sleepy while driving you are encouraged to pull off the roadway in a safe location and walk or exercise briefly to combat the fatigue before continuing," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
