A press release from General Motors said the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox has styling that’s “contemporized. ” No, GM’s public relations folks did not invent that word, though one could be forgiven for thinking so. The new styling is sleeker and includes more upscale touches, GM said, with a range of new wheel options. Also, and more important to us here at Car Tech Tell , the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox is said to get a new larger color touchscreen radio and new standard rearview camera system. GM North America President Alan Batey said, “Chevrolet Equinox is a pillar of the compact SUV segment, thanks to a value rooted in great style, efficiency, safety and connectivity. GM said the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox will come in four trim levels — L, LS, LT, and LTZ — thus eliminating the former LT1 and LT2 trim designations and streamlining the lineup.
