OUR TAKE: Nice to see GM took two of the thousand hybrid labels off the truck, removing the huge lettering from the bottom of the doors. These big GM trucks float along the highway nicely, and this one is no exception. Once the powertrain is warmed up, the engine shuts off at lights, then the truck starts on electric power immediately upon touching the gas pedal. The transmission is smooth, especially on the freeway where the hybrid powertrain is seamless. they tend to be grabby when you least expect it. Aside from the brakes, the real downer in the Tahoe hybrid is that sticker price. Youll have to drive a lot of miles to make up $10,000 difference between this and a garden variety Tahoe at the pump. 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe 4WD Hybrid. As-tested price: $56,500.
