Fort Hood usually has two such auctions per year, but the one scheduled in January didn’t happen because inventory was low, said Teresa Maynard, an MWR marketing specialist who helps organize the auction. a 1995 Chevrolet S-10 pickup that does start. Some of the vehicles were abandoned at Fort Hood’s Sprocket Auto Crafts Center, where soldiers can take their vehicles and work on them at no cost. Most of the vehicles were used for years by MWR, and were purchased with non-appropriated funds, officials said. The money raised from the auction all goes back to Sprocket for lifts or other equipment, Maynard said.
