Police: Travis County man facing 7th DWI - KXAN.com

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 911 caller alerted police Saturday to a man passed out in his car in the median of a North Austin road. Authorities later learned the man has a lengthy history of drunk driving, according to an arrest warrant. Authorities arrested Trevor Howard, 44, for driving while intoxicated on Wells Branch Parkway near the intersection of MoPac Expressway. Howard’s latest charge could lead to his seventh DWI conviction, if he’s found guilty, according to an arrest warrant. Police said Howard refused breath-alcohol analysis, but he failed some roadside sobriety tests and had a couple opened beers in his 2006 Nissan Xterra. His latest DWI charge is listed as a third-degree felony, which can carry a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, according to an arrest warrant and state law. Source: kxan.com

High-speed chase from Arcata to Eureka - Eureka Times Standard

On 08/04/15 at about 1:19 p. m. , the Eureka Police Department Communications Center was notified that Arcata Police Officers were in pursuit of a stolen yellow Nissan Xterra and were entering Eureka. Arcata Police discontinued the pursuit in Eureka due to heavy traffic. Eureka Police Officers picked up the pursuit near 4th and G Streets but discontinued near Commercial Street for safety reasons. The pursuit was picked up again near 5th and R Streets and eventually ended near the 1900 block of Hill Street. It was determined that the Nissan Xterra had been stolen out of Eureka sometime last night and had stolen plates from a Nissan Xterra out of Arcata. Original story: One man is in custody and police were searching for a second after a high-speed chase from Arcata to Eureka this afternoon, according to scanner traffic. It was not immediately clear what started the pursuit that went down State Route 255 from Arcata to the Samoa Bridge at 80 mph, over the bridge at 60 mph, and around several downtown Eureka streets at 40 mph to 60 mph before ending on Hill Street,... Update 1:28 p. m. : The yellow Nissan Xterra was just seen running a stop sign near 3rd and R. Update: 1:26 p. m. : Scanner traffic described the vehicle as a yellow Nissan being driven by a male.
