I think most people would look at leaving a hit TV show (not fired, contrary to the media feeding frenzy) as demonstration of serious intent. It’s been quite the journey to get on the WEC grid as part of the Dempsey Proton Racing Porsche team. I grew up a race fan, and still remember listening to the Indy 500 on the radio in the back of the family car. My dad loved racing and taught me to love it, too. At a young age, my competitive fire was stoked on ski racing in my home town in Maine. It was the day-to-day preparation necessary to be a successful competitor that drew me in. I remember reading as a kid about a ski racer who worked on balance by riding a unicycle. I got so good at juggling that I started to perform, which led to acting, which led to theater, movies, television and a career as an actor. Actually it may have been every week, or every day. For owners of many mid-2000s RX-8s it turns out that no amount of oil could stave off the now notorious RX-8 peril of null hot starting. This engineering failure was, and is, a massive shame as the rotary engine is a brilliant design, producing in the RX-8 unfeasible amounts of power (230hp) from a comically small swept volume (nominally 1. 3 litres, though our lovely Government... The hot start (or lack of it) malaise is caused by worn tips on the tri-lobed rotor that is the rotary engine's equivalent of a blockful of pistons. Mazda recalls 330000 vehicles for driver-side air bags - The Detroit News

Washington — Mazda Motor Co. said Friday it will expand a regional recall of vehicles with driver-side Takata air bags nationwide covering 330,000 vehicles — the second automaker to do so under government pressure. Last month, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration demanded that five automakers call back another 8 million vehicles nationwide after two reports of injuries in driver-side air bag incidents outside high humidity areas. Since 2013, 10 automakers have recalled more than 11 million vehicles for passenger or driver side Takata air bags. The new nationwide air bag campaign covers 2004-08 Mazda6 and RX-8 models equipped with certain Takata air bag inflators. “The nationwide Safety Improvement Campaign will cover the driver’s-side air bag inflator, as Mazda has not made a safety defect determination at this time. “One vehicle — a 2005 Mazda6 located in Florida — has been identified as having experienced an abnormal driver’s-side air bag deployment. Last week, Mazda said it would recall another 40,000 vehicles in an expanded number of high-humidity states because of Takata passenger air bags that can explode.
