Muscular-looking Kia Sorento offers plenty of power, comfort - Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Kia's Sorento is a fine crossover that will haul up to seven and look good doing it. The 2016 model continues a revamp from a couple of years ago. Grand total, $46,695. That's approaching the stratosphere, but if you want a larger crossover with AWD and much in the way of electronics, you're looking at spending at least $40,000. Sorento is pleasant looking, smooth, yet muscular. Naturally, if you don't want AWD and don't need to be swaddled in leather or have buttons to control most everything, you can go more basic. The entry-level L with front-wheel-drive starts at $25,795. It is powered by a 185-horsepower 2. 4-liter 4-cylinder that gets 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. It'll tow up to 5,000 pounds, so power is good, even if this version uses more gas. The EPA rates the AWD V6-powered version at 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. 6 mpg in a week's drive that was split almost evenly between city and highway driving. The V6 provided decent acceleration getting onto the highway and the 6-speed automatic, with Sportmatic feature allowing you to manually shift, works smoothly. This model also features 3 drive modes, activated by pushing a button on the console. Sorento's ride is quite good, well-controlled and smooth on rough roads. Source: www.jsonline.com

One of the latest redesigned models, the all-new for 2016 Sorento crossover, continues Kia’s insurgence among its competition that stretches to many different segments. Fresh off of the heals of the outgoing second generation Sorento, the new third generation 2016 model captivates potential consumers in more ways than one. Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system in my SXL (Limited) AWD-trimmed Sorento V6 test vehicle, the formula remains simple. The 2016 Kia Sorento plays along to the tune for what growing and large American families desire in a versatile package. The large 19-inch wheels and meaty all-season tires do their job to keep the Sorento planted and relatively capable for a large crossover. Fuel consumption estimates for the Sorento SXL AWD are somewhat dismal on paper with 17 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined. To the benefit of the new Sorento SXL AWD 7-passenger, I am at bay to say those figures are rather conservative as I saw much better results, getting nearly 26 mpg on the highway and a consistent 18. 7 mpg around town in stop-and-go traffic.
