Penns Wood Winery, on Beaver Valley Road in Concord Township, gave car lovers a chance to do just that with the winery’s fifth annual car show. What was once just a show for Ferraris, is now open to all types of classic, expensive, high-end cars. The event is Cars, Vines and Wines. Carley Mack, the winery’s co-owner and marketing manager, said Penns Woods was anticipating about 500 people attending the Saturday, Aug. The name was changed, she said, because collectors of other classic cars wanted to take part. “Different car collectors were interested in showcasing their vehicles, and it seemed stale to call it a Ferrari show when we have Maseratis, Porsches, Mercedes,” she said. In addition to the 500 visitors who come to look, have some wine and listen to live music, Mack said about 50 classic cars were expected, and some of those would be walk-ins because a lot of collectors don’t like to take their cars out without... Sheree Richnow, of West Chester, was one of the car owners who came out. She was showing her blue 1997 Jaguar XK8 convertible for the third year. She said she does a lot of car show, including Cars and Coffee every Saturday morning at Dilworthtown Road and Route 202, and thinks the show Penns Wood is just a good event. If you like your car a lot, you go to car things,” Richnow said. She said it was originally her neighbor’s car and she would see him driving it by her house and for years would try to flag him down. In de XK die we in dit artikel behandelen waren er twee varianten van dit motorblok verkrijgbaar. De eerste variant is degene zonder Supercharger, bekend als de XK8. De tweede variant is degene mét Supercharger, de XKR. In eerste instantie werd XK geleverd met een 4. 0 liter versie van de AJ-V8, in 2003 werden deze vervangen door 4. 2 liter exemplaren. Standaard werden er 17 inch wielen gemonteerd (op de XKR 18 inch), maar optioneel kon je tot 20 inch bestellen bij Jaguar. Motorisch gezien begint het bij een XK8 met 290 pk en loopt het op tot de 395 pk sterke XKR. Er waren een aantal speciale uitvoeringen, waaronder de XKR Silverstone, XKR 100, XKR Portfolio en de XKR-S. Met name de XKR Silverstone is interessant omdat hij een verbeterde versnellingsbak, scherpere besturing en strakker onderstel heeft. Prijzen beginnen (een paar uitschieters buiten beschouwing gelaten) rond de 8000 euro voor een XK8 met veel kilometers en lopen op tot een kleine €30. 000 euro voor een late XKR met weinig kilometers. Op AutoScout24 staan op moment van schrijven 76 XK’s van de tweede generatie te koop, alle auto’s zijn uitgerust met een benzinemotor, standaard gekoppeld aan een automaat. 55% is een coupe, 45% is een cabrio.
