The Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office has filed criminal charges against a Summerland woman for allegedly keeping her three-year old son from his father and taking him out of Santa Barbara County. The DA's Office says Faith Merritt, 31, was supposed to exchange custody of the child, Maxwell DiNardo, with the boy's father in late July. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office says, prior to her disappearance, Merritt said she planned to move to Oregon and live on a commune. Merritt is associated with a blue/gray 2005 Honda Odyssey with a CA license plate of 5NTP596. Honda is recalling more than 886,000 2005-2010 Honda Odyssey minivans for a fuel pump defect that may lead to fuel leaks and risk of fire. 2005 Honda Odyssey – built from June 23, 2004 to August 12, 2005. 2006 Honda Odyssey – built from July 21-28, 2005. 2007 Honda Odyssey – built from August 8, 2006 to October 20, 2007. 2008 Honda Odyssey – built from October 2, 2007 to September 8,... Documentation from Honda (PDF) indicates that the premature deterioration can cause cracks in the fuel pump strainer cover material. Honda said it noticed a high demand of Odyssey fuel pump replacement parts in October 2012. After investigating the problem, Honda said the cause of the cracks was “prolonged exposure to acidic chemicals and a high temperature environment. What Honda will do. Due to the large number of affected vehicles in the recall, Honda will not have a sufficient supply of replacement covers in stock until this summer.
