Jay Leno Takes Honda S600 Hot Rod Out For A Spin: Video - Motor Authority

The S600 is a delightful little machine that was produced by Honda from 1964 through 1966. It was offered in a fastback coupe, but the most popular model was definitely the roadster version. These plucky little drop-tops were powered by a 606-cc engine that produced a little under 60 horsepower. Some, however, would like a little more, and that's precisely what Jay Leno is staring down in the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage: more. The car in question is a 1964 Honda S600, which is pretty beat up. You could say it's seen better days, but we'd tend to disagree with you because these days it's been fitted with a power upgrade. Under the hood sits a 1,000-cc engine plucked from a 2007 Honda CBR 1000RR motorcycle. That is paired with the bike's gearbox and the power is sent out back by way of a BMW two-piece driveshaft. The suspension is also plucked from motorcycle bits, as is the gauge cluster inside the car. The owner, Matt Brown, even states that the car might be more motorcycle than car at this point. 1991 GMC Syclone - Automobile Magazine

Power went through a 4-speed automatic and then to each wheel via a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system. That setup allowed the Syclone to sprint to 60 mph in under 5 seconds - quicker than a C4 Corvette. Automobile Magazine reviewed one in 1991, along with its bigger (though slower) brother, the Silverado-based Chevy 454SS. I've wanted a Syclone ever since.
