While it took federal stimulus construction projects to help revive the pickup market in the early part of the decade, GM, Ford, and Ram now boast of selling fancy pickups to suburban families. Ram 1500 pickups with manufacturer suggested retail prices above $50,000 account for 15 percent of the mix, brand CEO and president Bob Hegbloom told me at last week’s 2016 Fiat Chrysler full-line preview. I like the approach of GM and Ford on how they are working to make cars that are the complete package where they go, stop and turn with world class cars. This will be the first time that a GM took the time and money to finish a Camaro. No cheap interior and no short cuts buy just sticking big tires on to make the car stick and no adapting another platform just to make the car as the Camaro was considered here since the inception of the Alpha.
