Testing in extreme hot and cold helps Ford develop all-weather cars and trucks - WDRB

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Ford Motor Company is hard at work in August making sure their cars will run great this winter. David Payne is Ford's manager of extreme weather testing. He showed how Ford puts vehicles from the Focus to the Super Duty trucks to the test in extreme weather including scorching heat in the desert. The company uses the largest climatic test facility in the world to test vehicles in the cold. Every year engineers bring global prototype vehicles to the lab, to push the limits of extreme cold-weather testing and improve quality and performance for its customers. Extreme weather conditions are the norm during testing in this sophisticated facility with temperatures dipping as low as -40°. Testing vehicles in these conditions helps to answer vital questions such as: Are we getting the cold start times correct. Are parts of the engine icing. Payne says his best suggestion to make sure your vehicle starts in the cold is to protect it from the wind. Source: www.wdrb.com

Sewell adds Wichita Falls - Odessa American

Since 2008, Sewell Ford in Odessa was ranked in the top 100 in sales volume. The dealership ranked No. 1 in superduty truck sales in the United States for three years and Top 10 in the state of Texas. Fleet sales to companies, including many in the oil and gas industry, contributed to those sales volumes. Super-duty sales have fallen off somewhat, even though Sewell Ford still ranks top ten in the state. “When oil and gas prices drop, super duty sales do too,” Sewell said. Sewell saw a more diversified Wichita Falls economy with a manufacturing base and Air Force station that “counter balance” to West Texas downturns driven by the oil and gas industry. Stolen truck quickly found, no arrest yet - Atmore Advance

A pickup truck stolen early Sunday morning from an Atmore home was quickly found and returned to its owners Monday. Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks said that the Atmore Police Department is still investigating the crime, but has determined a potential suspect. The stolen vehicle was a silver 2013 Ford DRW Super Duty pickup truck, with a large tool box and welding equipment on the back. It was reportedly stolen from Lauren and Jace Beasley’s yard early Sunday morning, but it was recovered Monday morning in Century, Fla. “The truck was recovered, and thankfully it was not damaged,” he said. “None of the parts or equipment was stolen. Lauren Beasley said her husband Jace is a welder and uses the truck in his business, so it was a real blessing to recover it Monday morning.
