The top of the range, in the U. K. at least, is the 3. 2-liter TDCi diesel engine producing 197 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque. While the gas engine is offered with a five-speed manual transmission, the diesel engines get a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions. 5-liter gas-engine Ranger Double Cab, for example, returns approximately 27 mpg on the highway in the European test cycle, while the 2. 2-liter diesel and the 3. 2-liter diesel versions return 28 and 31 mpg on the highway, respectively.
