Would you buy a Ford Ranger pickup? - AutoWeek
The packaging of the world-market Ford Ranger is not too dissimilar from that of the U. S. -market truck that it replaced, and that means it's available in two-seat Regular Cab configuration, Super Cab with two additional reverse-hinged rear... The engines on offer range from a 2. 5-liter Duratec gas engine making 163 hp and 166 lb-ft of torque to a 2. 2-liter Duratorq TDCi diesel engine making 147 hp and 276 lb-ft of torque. The top of the range, in the U. K. at least, is the 3. 2-liter TDCi diesel engine producing 197 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque. While the gas engine is offered with a five-speed manual transmission, the diesel engines get a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions. 5-liter gas-engine Ranger Double Cab, for example, returns approximately 27 mpg on the highway in the European test cycle, while the 2. 2-liter diesel and the 3. 2-liter diesel versions return 28 and 31 mpg on the highway, respectively. Aside from that, it's a modern Ford interior, even though the appointments aren't quite as luxurious as in a U. S. -market Ford Explorer. The Regular Cab version of the 4x2 Ranger starts at the equivalent of $24,500 in the U. K. market (excluding the ever-popular value added tax) and goes up to $31,500 for the XL trim.
