Newton commissioner proposes no-kill animal shelter - Rockdale Citizen

COVINGTON — Newton County District 1 Commissioner John Douglas called on fellow commissioners Tuesday to consider moving toward a no-kill animal shelter. Douglas, who said he adopted two beagles from the Newton County Animal Shelter a couple of years ago, said establishing a no-kill shelter was part of his campaign platform, and he asked commissioners to “energize the Animal Control board to begin... Vehicle crashes for week of Aug. 13 - Algona Upper Des Moines

– Aaron Michael Louscher, 43, Algona, was cited for unsafe backing and leaving the scene of an accident in a crash near the intersection of Chubb and Sample Streets. According to Officer Ben Gatton of the Algona Police Department, Suzanne Ruth Larsen had parked a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu owned by Allen Phillip Larsen, Algona, thirty feet from the intersection of Sample and Chubb Streets. Louscher then backed his 2015 Ford F25 from his parking space and into Larsen’s vehicle. Damage to the Malibu was estimated at $2,000. Damage to the F25 was estimated at $1,000. No injuries were posted in the accident report. - Duane Dalten Pigman, 18, Britt, Julie Lynn Davis, 40, Eagle Grove, and Alexander Michael Davis, 19, Eagle Grove, were injured in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Hwy. The trio were transported from the accident scene to Hancock Memorial Hospital by the West Hancock Ambulance Service. According to Deputy Robert Bankey of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Pigman was eastbound on 220th Street in his 1988 Chevrolet K1500. The road Pigman was traversing is a gravel road. 17 in her 2004 Ford Freestar van and collided with Pigman’s truck. Drug abuse, Orange Place: Police and EMT's arrived at the Super 8 motel shortly before 3 p. m. to find a Logan County, W. Va. , man, 26, unconscious but breathing on the bathroom floor from a reported heroin overdose. No drugs or paraphernalia were seen in the room, where a Newburgh Heights woman, 19, a Warren man, 23, and a Charleston, W. Va. , woman, 23, all said they had gone to the bank and then returned to find the victim collapsed on the floor. Police noted that the victim also had an active traffic warrant from the Montville police department. Damage to private property, Orange Place: A Solon woman, 65, reported Aug. 15 what she thought was intentional damage damage to the passenger side of her 2005 Ford Freestar while it had been parked overnight outside the Hampton Inn. Police found she had a Financial Responsibility Act suspension and arrest warrants out of Stow and Shaker Heights. She was turned over to Shaker police and the man was turned over to Macedonia police on an outstanding warrant there. 18 by police there who had picked her up on a warrant from Orange that required a $1,500 bond. 16 to report they had a Shaker Heights man, 22, in custody for an outstanding warrant out of Shaker.
