FPV slashes prices - Motoring

Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) is offering buyers of its volume-selling F6 and GT models savings of more than $10,000 in the lead-up to the discontinuation of its entire range this year. The turbocharged six-cylinder FPV F6 can now be had for $54,990 drive-away, while the FPV GT is now on sale for $64,990 drive-away. That represents a $9400 price cut for the F6 (normally $64,390 plus on-road costs) and a $5800 saving for customers of the GT (normally $70,790 plus ORCs). Including on-road costs and free leather trim and satellite-navigation, both of which are also included, the savings exceed more than $10,000 for both models. The deal applies only to 2013-plated models, but FPV is also offering finance with a low 2. 9 per cent per annum interest rate for its entire 2013 model range in January. Ford has announced it will kill off the FPV brand and all of its models – including the GS, F6, F6E, GT, GT-P and GT-E sedans, and the F6 and GS utes – this year. To satisfy buyers of large Australian performance cars, Ford will resurrect the XR8 sedan ( but not the ute) with GT mechanicals as part of the facelifted Falcon line-up due on sale in late 2014. Ford Australia plans to send off the Falcon on a turbocharged high with a limited edition model designed to boost sales in the iconic sedan's final months on sale. In a move likely to come as a welcome relief to diehard Ford fans, the 'Blue Oval' brand is set to add a high output version of its XR6 Turbo to the Falcon line-up to supplement demand for its supercharged XR8 sports sedan. But even that is not enough to appeal to Ford fans who want to keep more than memories when the Broadmeadows car assembly line and Geelong engine plant fall silent in October 2016. Ford FG X Falcon XR6 Turbo 'Sprint' on the way, 310kW - rumour - PerformanceDrive

Ford fans will be happy to hear there could be a hot FG X XR6 Turbo on the way, potentially featuring the old FPV F6 powertrain. According a Motoring report , the local brand is planning a special send-off series of Falcons in the lead up to the nameplate’s retirement in 2016. There’s talk of a special edition XR8 and an equally special XR6 Turbo, dubbed the ‘Sprint’. However, while the XR8 received the FPV GT’s 5. 0-litre supercharged V8 producing 335kW, the XR6 Turbo retained its more conservative 270kW tune. The XR6 Turbo Sprint special edition is expected to give the 310kW version of the 4. 0-litre turbo inline six a last run. Either McDonald is a very good liar, or, it could be bad news ahead for hungry Falcon fans who are holding out and waiting for a last special edition to be announced. It certainly seems unlikely that Ford Australia would not release some sort of special send-off for the nameplate. Ford Falcon production will cease by around October next year.
