Pottsville mayor to talk police, streets in address - Republican & Herald

In his State of the City address Thursday, Pottsville Mayor James T. Muldowney will talk about goals being set by city police and an upcoming change in the city streets department. Both have been generous to help the city along with some equipment for our police and our street department,” Muldowney said Tuesday at city hall. In January, the Pottsville Parking Authority agreed to buy a truck for the city streets department at a cost of $64,217. In late 2014, Schuylkill Health — which manages two hospitals in the city — agreed to buy a sport utility vehicle for the city... As you’ll hear in my State of the City address, there are things we need to buy for the police force this year, and we’re not going to do it with taxpayers’ dollars. Muldowney will give the State of the City Address at 6 p. m. Thursday at council chambers, on the second floor of city hall, 401 N. Centre St. The public is invited, Merideth Hannan, the mayor’s secretary, said Tuesday. “And it’s important to give the people a review on what we did last year and insights on what we’re planning this year,” Muldowney said. A Democrat, Muldowney was elected in November 2013 and took office in January 2014. The city police force is made up of 22 full-time officers, including police Chief Richard F. Wojciechowsky.
