Ford earnings top expectations as North American sales soar - Christian Science Monitor

Ford Motor delivered quarterly earnings that topped analysts' expectations on Tuesday, helped by continued strength of its North American sales. The second largest U. S. automaker posted second-quarter earnings of 47 cents per share, up from 40 cents a share in the year-earlier period. Ford maintained its full-year 2015 forecast of an operating profit of between $8. 5 billion to $9. 5 billion. The company downgraded its forecast for 2015 China auto sales to a 23 million to 24 million range from a 24. 5 million to 26. 5 million range. June auto sales came in higher than some had expected when they were released earlier this month, but the company's sales in China, the world's largest auto market, were flat through the first half of the year.
